We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but we have another Beaufort closing to let you know about.

Bistro Patois, owned by Plums Inc., which also owns Saltus and Plums in downtown Beaufort, has closed its doors out at Habersham, citing a poor economy as the reason.

Here's what Plums Inc. had to say in its email press release:

The Plums Inc. team made a valiant effort to make a great restaurant also a great business,” owner Lantz Price said. “Habersham is an amazing place, its Marketplace is energetic and fun –but in this economy, we needed to do what was best for the company overall.

Bistro Patois opened in the Habersham Marketplace last year and offered a French, bistro experience.According to Plums Inc., gift certificates purchased for Patois will be honored at Plums or Saltus, so worry not. This is the latest in a string of closings or relocations in the Beaufort area.Last week we reported that the Storybook Shoppe, also in Habersham, would be moving out to historic Bluffton..And earlier today we announced that Caffino will be closing at the end of the month.
