New Beaufort biz bound for site of several failed sports bars (updated: Island Packet catches up with owners)

Updated Dec. 13: The Island Packet caught up with the owners of the Sandbar and Grill. The family used to own the Village Inn Pizza Parlor on Boundary Street.

Read the Island Packet writeup here.

Updated Dec. 4: The new restaurant that went in next to the movie theater in Beaufort Plaza Shopping Center is called Sandbar and Grill, and it has just opened.

The menu looks like pretty typical bar fare, but with a Lowcountry/Beaufort twist. We particularly like the notation under the wings: Fly Higher than F-35's with these Hot and Crispy Wings.

Here's the menu:

First reported Nov. 19: A shop front in Beaufort Plaza Shopping Center that has opened and closed as different sports bars more times than I can remember looks like it's going to soon reopen again.

A big "Opening Soon" sign is hanging in front of the store that most recently was TD's Sports Grill.

An application for a beer a liquor license on the window lists Chicks on Top LLC as the applicant.

According to the S.C. Secretary of State's website Chicks on Top LLC was just formed in October.

A look inside the store appears to show that it'll be another sports bar of sorts, as all of the TVs and the bar itself still are there. Guess we'll see.
