Deal finally brings parking tokens back to downtown Beaufort

While you won't be able to use the tokens in the on-street city meters, a deal between Main Street Beaufort and the owners of the Port Republic Street surface parking lot will allow return customers and employees to park all day for $1.

Member businesses will be able to buy the tokens, giving them to employees or customers they want to see return downtown again soon.

Head on over to The Island Packet for the rundown.

The move raises two questions: 1) Will a cliental that is used to trying for a spot right in front of a business find a "free" parking spot near Craven Street atractive? 2) If so, will it stir the city into pushing tokens, something that was much debated during the great parking debate of 2010.
