The Beaufort land preservation movement seems to be gathering some steam after local Rural and Critical Land Preservation Board officials announced Thursday, May 12 that they possessed about $1.3 million dollars to purchased threatened land.

(You may remember a related story in December, when 'The Green' was made no longer private property. Check that article out here.)

The group, whose recent purchases include 1,584-acres on Coosaw Plantation and more than 900 acres of land on St. Helena's island,  are hoping to raise another $10 million more for further acquisitions.

The Bluffton Today has an interesting article on the subject, head over here to read that.
