F-35B taken off 'probation' status (Update: Push back)

Remember how the Marine Crops' next generation fighter jet F-35B struggling to clear testing?

Well, all that appears to be changing after the first two jets were delivered earlier this week. Reuters is writing that U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta may soon take the plane off the "probation" list.

Update January 20: Just a matter of hours after word broke that the F-35B was likely to be removed from "probation" status by Defense Secretary Panetta, Bloomberg News is saying that the official announcement will come today during Panetta's visit to the flight test center at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland.

Update February 7: Congressional leaders are displeased with Panetta's pardoning of the F-35B.

In a report, Reuters writes that the leaders of the Senate Armed Services Committee said the "move appeared premature and was not vetted with Congress."
