Update November 18: It's open. Not much more you can say about that.

Here are some photos we found on Facebook of the ribbon cutting.

Update November 15: While the bridge has already been seeing some action, it will officially be open after a ribbon cutting this week.

It will be on Friday, November 18, at 11 a.m. on the Port Royal side of the new McTeer bridge. If you have questions call (843) 255-2035.

Updated September 27: If you drove over to Lady's Island on Monday or this morning you may have noticed that a lane of the new bridge next to the J.E. McTeer Bridge is open.

That's all there is to say on that, but it's very exciting isn't it?

If you must have more on the obvious, check out WTOC 11's video report.

The bridge construction and related road widening on Lady's Island is expected to be done in October.

Reported August 17: Word is the new bridge over the Beaufort River that runs next to the J.E. McTeer Bridge will be completed in weeks.

That's according to The Island Packet, which says drivers could be "traversing"  (whatever that means) the bridge by mid-October. (We're kidding of course.)
