Noon update: Today's 300th birthday party for Beaufort has been moved into the USCB Performing Arts Center due to the rain.

Other than that everything else is the same. It's set for a 4:30 p.m. start with cake and the Parris Island band.

Reported January 17: There's a whole lot going on today in and around Beaufort ranging from Martin Luther King Jr. Day events to Beaufort's 300th birthday party.

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade through downtown Beaufort starts at 10 a.m. and follows the standard parade route. For more details on area events honoring Martin Luther King Jr. click here.

There also are a couple of events being held today to celebrate Beaufort's Tricentennial.

Books Sandwiched In will host Mayor Billy Keyserling and his review of "Doctor K: A Personal Memoir." For more on that click here.

And at 4:30 a big 300th birthday party will be held in Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park.

You can find more details on all of this over at our calendar page.
