Loris Middle School claimed the "Palmetto's finest" first place prize over Beaufort Middle School on Tuesday, March 22, The Island Packet reports in the Mach 23 edition of the newspaper.

Both the Loris and Beaufort middle schools were joined by Kelly Mill Middle School as the sole finalists in the competition, and although the latter two walked away without top prize, Superintendent Valerie Truesdale commended the schools for both their effort, and their rising to become one of the best schools in the state-wide competition.
