College of Charleston President George Benson awarding the family their scholarships
Update February 15: While the support to the Dickinson family has obviously slowed, it's gone out with a bang: A $108,000 bang.
That's the amount of money raised at the "Dinner: Possible" fundraiser put on by celebrity chef Robert Irvine dinner, and a check for that amount was given to the Dickinson family at a special event at the eat! restaurant on Monday, February 14.
No word yet on the episode's air date.
Reported January 20: On Tuesday the Dickinson family of Mossy Oaks was presented with its new six bedroom and four bathroom plantation-style home, but that wasn't the end of their change in fortune.
No, the gifts from the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition TV show and Beaufort community weren't the end.
In addition to receiving numerous smaller gifts (like golf clubs and digital cameras) the family with five children and a deployed Marine Corps father has also been offered full scholarships to the College of Charleston and was given a new Ford SUV.
As for the Beaufort community we can still expect one surprise when the episode airs and the inside of the finished home at 45 Mystic Circle is revealed. No air date has been announced, but watch for it here and expect it in mid to late February.
