The overall number of jobs and unemployment rate bettered in both Beaufort and South Carolina during February.

Down from 8.6% in February to 8.4%, the number of employed persons increased to 1,992,113, and the unemployed totaled 182,978, the lowest level since October of 2008.

Unemployment this March in Beaufort County improved faster, with unemployment falling from 7.2% to 6.5% with the number of jobs growing from 64,943 to 65,160.

In Jasper County the rate fell from 8.0% to 7.4%.

Nationally, unemployment fell from 7.7% in February to 7.6% in March.
