Is Gullah culture at risk?

The Island Packet has an interesting story on a federal plan to preserve the Gullah-Geechee culture along the Sea Island coast.
Discussion of this preservation corridor has been ongoing for several years, with U.S. Rep. James Clyburn playing a critical role in securing funding for the program.
What's real interesting though is a line in the Packet story that says the program has only received about 10% of the dollars supposedly secured. Again, give it a read here.
