For years Lady's Island has been the region of Beaufort County most desperately in need of additional park and recreation space. It seems that's about to change.

The Island Packet has a story about a new 25-acre park off Sams Point Road potentially opening this coming May. You can give that story a read here.

Seems this Same Point Road park has taken precedence over the Crystal Lake Preserve Park, also on Lady's Island, which the county has spent about $4 million on in land costs. You can read a 2009 Packet story about that proposed park here.
