Beaufort County GOP looks to limit 1st Amendment freedoms

The Charleston City Paper has an extremely interesting piece on numerous resolutions that are being put before S.C.'s GOP delegates.

Of particular interest is one pitched by Beaufort County's local Republican Party. The local proposal calls for legislation or a constitutional amendment that would ensure that 1st Amendment freedoms are not extended to religions that, in part, "advocate, promote, support, tolerate, threaten, or practice any form of violence."

The resolution is lengthy and goes on from there, but basically, its poses as a pitch to restrict Muslims from receiving 1st Amendment rights.

You can read the City Paper blog, which includes the full proposal, by clicking here.
