Some 23 miles of Beaufort County roads should see a new coat of pavement this summer thanks to $4.4 million, half of which is covered by a federal matching grant.

The majority of those miles, 13.71, are in Northern Beaufort County and about 1.5 miles in downtown Beaufort, including the spider-web patching on Charles Street and part of Bay Street.
