S.C.'s unemployment still higher than nation but drops some; Beaufort below national average

The March unemployment numbers are out, and they show continued improvement regionally and throughout the state.

Beaufort County's number was down to 7.8% in March, down from February's 8.3%.

South Carolina as a whole was down to 9.9% unemployment, which is down from February's 10.2% but still higher than the national average of 8.8%.

Jasper County dipped from 9.6% in February to 8.8% in March, while Hampton and Colleton are still seeing rates much higher than the state average of 12.9% and 12.2%, respectively.
