4:15 p.m. update: The News Tribune out of Tacoma has an official report that Ron Parker is included in the group of undrafted free agents signed by the Seahawks.

Now this doesn't guarantee Parker a spot on the team, but it's a start.

Reported July 26: We rarely do the sports story thing, but when it's a Beaufort High standout headed for the NFL we have to chime in.

Now with the NFL lockout over, it looks like undrafted free agent Ron Parker, who was an exceptional safety when he played his college ball at Newberry, is free to sign on with an NFL squad, and it could be with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to several websites and a tweet from a former Newberry teammate Parker is indeed headed to the West Coast.

We'll let you know when Parker has indeed signed on the bottom line.
