Beaufort boaters, swimmers should take care with Igor swirling

Hurricane Igor isn't expected to come anywhere near making landfall, but that doesn't mean it won't cause problems along the shore.

Though it'll be almost 1,000 miles from us, Igor still is churning up strong rip currents and high surf.

Here are overviews on the warnings and what you should be to take care by WTOC and WSAV.

Unfortunately we've recently been reminded of just how dangerous these rip currents can be and how we shouldn't take them lightly. A swimmer out on Hunting Island died earlier this month after getting caught in the rip current.

It's important to keep in mind the dangers of rip currents and to check the local advisories, and remember to never fight a rip current but swim out of it.
