Board of Trustees scales back USC Beaufort tuition increase

The University of South Carolina's Board of Trustees on Tuesday scaled back tuition increases at several branch campuses, including USCB which was supposed to see a 9.5 percent increase.

Instead, USCB will jump up by 7 percent. You can read coverage of the Board's decision over at The (Columbia) State and at the Daily Gamecock.

The decision to scale back the tuition hikes is a direct result of a September mandate by the S.C. Budget and Control Board that called on the state's public colleges and universities that were planning tuition increases of more than 7 percent to put the brakes on construction projects. We covered that story here.
