This week in Beaufort County school closures: Here's what you need to know (update: Friday's agenda released)

Updated Aug. 4: The agenda for Friday's special school board meeting at which school closures will be addressed has been released.

The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. at the board's Mink Point Blvd. facility.

You can view the agenda below

Reported Aug. 1: The Beaufort County Board of Education meets at 6 p.m. tonight for its regular meeting, but the group isn't expected to discuss proposed school closures, including that of Port Royal and Shell Point elementary schools.

But residents aren't going to wait for Friday's special meeting to make their voices heard.

The Island Packet has a report this morning that protests are planned for tonight's board meeting.

Also in today's Beaufort Gazette is a full page ad with more than 400 signatures of those who are protesting the closure of Port Royal Elementary.

The special meeting to discuss and potentially vote on the closures will be held at the district office, 2900 Mink Point Blvd., at 10 a.m. Friday.

Surely more will pop up between now and Friday, but for right now this is what you need to know.
