Come meet the newest TheDigitel Beaufort editor: Eric H. Doss

Update: Don't forget to come say hello today.

Regular readers will have noticed a new byline on the sight during the last several weeks: Eric H. Doss.

Eric is the newest member of TheDigitel family and he'll be saying greeting the community in an informal setting on Tuesday, May 8, at from 9 to 11 a.m. at City Java and News on Carteret Street.

So come down and sound off about Beaufort, or just say hello.

Here's a little bit about him in his own words:

I'm an information addict, voracious reader, and technology junkie.  I work for a large publishing company based in Ann Arbor, Michigan and run a web consultancy in my spare time.

428 Eric H. DossMy wife and I relocated in October 2008 when she accepted a job in Beaufort.  We lived in the DC area before we moved here.  I'm originally from Greenville, SC and graduated from The Citadel and Clemson University.  We have a dog, Wallace, a terrier mix and no kids.

In addition to my work, I'm a triathlete and training for my second Ironman this fall.

My favorite thing about Beaufort is the focus on quality of life, that is, the relaxed atmosphere.  Didn't have that in DC.

In order, probably the YMCA because I spend a lot of time swimming, Hunting Island State Park, and running across the new bridge: I love the view out towards Parris Island on one side and downtown Beaufort on the other.

I think Beaufort is uniquely positioned to attract the creative class, though it will require investment in technological infrastructure and a new approach to business.  We will likely never have large industry here, so we must use our natural gifts, the quality of life and the location, to attract a group of individuals that can contribute to our economy and lead Beaufort into the future.
