Update May 29: Much coverage abounds of the annual Memorial Day remembrance events in Beaufort.

Captured Moments Photography has a lengthy photo gallery from the parade (page 1, page 2), while The Island Packet offers coverage of Capt. Joan Queen's address at the Beaufort National Cemetery (read that here), and WSAV 3 offers up video coverage of both events (watch that here or up top).

First reporting: Today, May 28, marks Beaufort's 116th annual Memorial Day Parade.

The parade is set to begin at 10 a.m. and follow the standard route from the corner of Boundary and Rodgers streets, down Carteret and Bay streets and back up Bladen Street.

The parade is expected to end by 11:15 a.m. and at noon the commanding officer at the Beaufort Naval Hospital, Navy Capt. Joan Queen, is slated to speak for services at the Beaufort National Cemetery, where the parade ends.

Then the annual W. Brown Marshel Memorial Day Picnic will be held at 1814 Greene Street from 1 to 4 p.m.
