The ARK Offers Leader Training for Powerful Tools for Caregivers Program

The ARK, Alzheimer’s Family Support Services, is offering a Powerful Tools for Caregivers leadership course on Oct. 15-16 at The ARK office in Summerville, 206 Central Ave.

Anyone with experience in caregiving or who has led a support group is encouraged to take those skills a step further and become a class leader for Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a six-week class that teaches caregivers to thrive while they are caring for their loved one with a chronic illness.

Peg Lahmeyer and Micky Styslinger with The ARK are master trainers who will teach the course and train new leaders for the Powerful Tools for Caregivers program.

Trainees are required to attend the entire two-day training and participate in exercises and practice teaching. The fee is $250 (payable by check to The ARK by Oct. 8). The fee includes continental breakfast and lunch plus one copy of The Caregiver Helpbook, the DVD “A Prescription for Caregivers: Take Care of Yourself,” and the Powerful Tools for Caregivers scripted curriculum for all classes (90-minute and 2 1/2-hour scripts and Class Leader Tips manuals). Curriculum resources are sent electronically following the training session.
