South Carolina gets going with a Pecha Kucha craze

While Charleston was gearing up for its forthcoming Pecha Kucha Night Vol. 4, South Carolina got all hopped up on the presentation craze.

Don't know a Pecha Kucha Night from a woodpecker?

Think of it as a quick-paced creative inspiration conference.

The official description: "Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show."

For starters, its sleepier neighbor of Beaufort got going with its own Pecha Kucha Night on October 8. And they had a pretty good showing of 250 folks. -- Which, to be honest, is more than I would have expected.

If you're intrigued, hop on over and learn more about the night in this write-up at The Beaufort Gazette. And check out their photo set from the night.

Not only is Beaufort onboard, but Greenville and Columbia are slated to hold their inaugural Pecha Kucha events on November 12 and October 20, respectively.

p.s. Yeah, Savannah does Pecha Kucha Nights, too. -- But not for as long as Charleston has. Yeah, the Holy City is so much cooler than the Hostess City.
