The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry is starting the search for the 3rd Annual Artist-in-Residence program.

The annual regional residence art program aims to put an artist before 25,000 Lowcountry children and their families to observe, interact, and learn. The selected artist will take residence in the Museum’s Art Room 10-15 hours a week for three months to conduct hands-on workshops, weekly free drop-in classes and informal demonstrations. The artist will also direct monthly art workshops for a visiting CML Title One partner school class.

The decision will be based on artistic merit, proven experience working with children, proposed projects and how they relate to the CML themes of arts, culture and community.  The selected artist must inspire curiosity and understanding among diverse audiences and produce art, experiences and knowledge that enhance artistic expression – building on CML’s impressive history of bringing the arts and children together.

The Artist-in-Residence offers artists:

  • One three month residency at the Museum in the dedicated Art Room
  • 24-hour access to 120 square foot studio at Redux Contemporary Art Studio to continue your work.  For more information about Redux, visit www.reduxstudios.org
