Update January 6: The South Carolina Aquarium and Children's Museum of the Lowcountry's LowCANtry Holiday program was a smashing success.

Proving that good will and giving can help get 6,000 canned good to locals in need, it also proved that cans can be transformed into impressive works of art.

The Post and Courier has a story as well as two photos of the structures created for the South Carolina Aquarium. One is a 15-foot sculpture of the Morris Island lighthouse and the other is a sculpture made of cans of tuna depicting the Polar Express train.

Hop on over and take a look.

First reporting: Come down to Aquarium Wharf and splash into the holiday SEAson starting Friday, November 26 with the month-long "LowCANtry Holiday" promotion which runs through December 23.

Start your journey in the North Pole with The Polar Express 4-D Experience being shown in the 4-D Immersion Theater; next visit the Great Ocean Tank to see Scuba Claus swim with the fish; the get into the holiday spirit with a stop at holiday-clad Camp Carolina, and don't forget to check out two giant can sculptures made out of thousands of canned goods graciously donated by Piggly Wiggly designed by Stumphouse Architecture + Design.
