New Apple store walks a line between history and innovation

The Post and Courier's Robert Behre on the new Apple Store's unconventional storefront, well, for Charleston anyways:
It's an interesting example of how flexible new architecture on King Street can be if done right. ...
The reasons Apple's designers had a freer hand is that not only wasn't the building historic, but its neighbor to the south isn't historic either.
The story helps shed some light on the city's preservation process -- one that often seems arbitrary. Go take a read.
Behre also notes that not all innovation is welcome, particularly in the case of a surf store on King near Calhoun.
