Carolina Day, which marks one of the first defeats of the British naval forces by the American colonies, was commemorated downtown with a parade to White Point Gardens and re-enactors out at Fort Moultrie.

It was 234 years ago on June 28th that the Battle of Fort Moultrie took place and the Americans held off the British forces. Out on the battle ground and Fort Moultrie, re-enactors treated guests to musket and two different cannon firing demonstrations.

The Post and Courier was on hand at both celebrations and has a write-up and photo gallery.
