Gas prices inch up as Americans flock to the road Memorial Day

Gas prices are up across the country to an average of $2.27 as more Americans plan to hit the road this Memorial Day.

Fill up your tanks now folks, economists across the board are saying this upward trend in gas prices is just beginning.

Prices are 21.6 cents a gallon more expensive than last month, but that's still $1.465 a gallon cheaper than a year ago.

You can check out the cheapest spots to fill up around Charleston reported in the last 36 hours. -- As of Wednesday afternoon the service said the lowest price was $2.03 at the Costco in West Ashley.
