Update: An opening for November is slated.

The Alley bowling spot continues to inch closer to being reality for downtown Charleston with extensive renovation work getting further and further along.

Now the spot's current target date is just a few months away in the Fall of 2012 and they have announced a partnership with Fiery Ron's Home Team BBQ, "to be our food partner & create a new menu with made from scratch local products that will be un-like anything you will find in Charleston."

The spot will also offer three bars, eight bowling lanes, a restaurant space, TVs, and outside seating, along with precious downtown parking. They'll be at 131 Columbus Street (just north of Spring Street between Meeting and King streets).

Follow along with the renovations on The Alley's Facebook page.

Hat tip to Eater Charleston for spotting the update.

Update August 20: Progress is moving along swiftly inside of The Alley.

We had the opportunity to stroll through the interior this afternoon and captured these shots to share:

First, to get your bearings on where The Alley is located, here's a shot of the outside of the joint. Located at 131 Columbus Street, The Alley is sandwiched between Piggly Wiggly and U-Haul.

And here's the entranceway that leads you to the main dining room/bar area. The panels will be back lit.

Here's a look at most of the main dining area. The upstairs portion will sport a 70's lounge-area with a second bar as well as a sectioned off room for private events.

The Alley's yellow, orange and white colorway combined with the wooden paneling on the walls will give the place a retro vibe.

Bar tops are actually made from old bowling alleys!

And finally, the lanes. The back room of the building will house eight bowling lanes and an addition bar. It is currently being used for storage while construction continues.
