Update June 13: Correction: Caviar & Bananas gourmet market and café will launch their second downtown location on June 27th, not June 24th.

First reporting: Caviar & Bananas gourmet market and café has just announced that they will launch their second downtown location, opening June 24th, in Charleston’s newly renovated Market Street Great Hall.

The new storefront will be an edited version of the landmark location at 51 George Street, offering an espresso and tea bar as well as breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and grab-and-go bites prepared by executive chef Todd Mazurek.

The vision of husband-and-wife owners Margaret and Kris Furniss is that Caviar & Bananas’ new store will provide ideal epicurean edibles for the bustling foot traffic in downtown’s market area. “We are thrilled to be a part of the historic project at the Great Hall,” said Margaret. “Our new location will provide a convenient and enjoyable escape for Market Street shoppers and is ideal for a quick bite and cup of coffee before work or a healthy lunch between meetings.”

Located near Church Street in the newly renovated Market Street Great Hall, which has transformed Charleston’s historic open-air market into an enclosed collection of upscale, climate-controlled retail and food stores, the new Caviar & Bananas will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
