SWEET CECE'S RAISES THE BAR ON YOGURT SHOPPES WITH A NEW CONCEPT IN CHARLESTON,

There’s a new level of frozen yogurt coming to town, as Sweet CeCe’s (www.sweetceces.com) plans to open its doors at 99 South Market Street on Wednesday, April 4th .

The shoppe specializes in healthy (i.e.: non- fat, sugar free, and gluten free), premium frozen yogurts and toppings, and puts a new, luxurious spin on the experience. Designed and built by local craftspeople and architects, Sweet CeCe’s will feel instantly “right” for Charleston. Bathed in a fresh color palette, the shoppe will feature Charleston-wrought ironwork, original art, welcoming seating and free wireless access.

Ken Calabro, Jr., a graduate of the New York Restaurant School and seasoned food service professional, is managing the store.  Calabro’s intention is to work closely with local growers and purveyors to source all manner of delicious and nutritious fruits, which guests can add to a plethora of frozen yogurt flavors.  Those fresh, local fruits and berries will share the stage with Sweet CeCe’s signature, ceiling-high silo of more than two dozen gourmet toppings.

Sweet CeCe’s is also partnering with local organizations in an effort to foster grassroots entrepreneurship throughout the community. The store has created a sponsorship with the award-winning Palmetto Artisan program (the first such sponsorship in the program’s history), which teaches Charleston youth aged 9 to 16 the principles of business ownership, customer service and financial management. Sweet CeCe’s founder CeCe Moore will visit Charleston this spring to conduct a business camp for the young artisans and host them for a yogurt party at the store.

The store has also created a paid internship with the College of Charleston School of Business’ Entrepreneurship program. Successful candidates will learn how to manage a retail business at every level, from site selection, to sourcing products to managing individuals.

With its location on world-famous South Market Street, Sweet CeCe’s Charleston has captured the essence of the city in its décor. Exposed brick, bright colors and a warm, playful ethic permeate the 1,400-square-foot interior. Owners worked with local architect Darryl Cobb and Palmetto Craftsmen to successfully convert from tee shirt store to café.

Sweet CeCe’s originated in Nashville, T.N., the brainchild of CeCe Moore, a mom whose food memories inspired her to bring warmth and charm to the market. Today, Sweet CeCe’s is expanding throughout the country with over 43 locations nationwide.
