Home sellers looking to foreign buyers

The Charleston housing market may soon get some relief thanks to Carriage Properties' move to look for international home-buyers.

The Post and Courier writes:
Carriage Properties has begun advertising in the International Herald Tribune, a New York Times Co.-owned newspaper distributed across Europe. The marketing strategy stems from the national economic slowdown and a weakening U.S. dollar, which makes foreign investment more attractive these days, said broker Thomas Bennett.

So far, the campaign has stirred up a fair amount of foreign interest, he said.

"I think that (international buyers) tend to go toward south Florida or New York City because there are many other Europeans there, but we have a number of Europeans here, too," he said.
