The Charleston Metro Chamber Foundation has won a $10,000 grant from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) as part of MassMutual’s national Community Service Award program.

The Charleston Metro Chamber Foundation is one of only eleven organizations nationally to win an award. MassMutual made the grant in honor of John Osborne of Osborne & Osborne, a MassMutual agent with The South Carolina Agency in Mount Pleasant, SC.

The Charleston Metro Chamber Foundation is a 501(c)(3) established by Chamber members exclusively for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. The aim is for leadership development and training, innovation development, workforce development, minority business growth and community research.

“MassMutual’s Community Service Awards program aims to encourage and recognize those financial professionals that are active members of their community,” said Nick Fyntrilakis,  Assistant Vice President of Community Responsibility, MassMutual. “John’s volunteer work reflects MassMutual’s steadfast commitment to supporting organizations in the communities where our financial professionals live and work.”

“I’m extremely honored to be the conduit between this generous gift from MassMutual and the tremendous community services performed by The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce,” said Osborne.

Osborne has been with The South Carolina Agency for two years.  He has been committed to The Charleston Metro Chamber since 2007 and has dedicated countless volunteer hours to help the organization grow and flourish.

“I am very pleased that my dedication to the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce has been recognized by MassMutual,” said Osborne.  “This grant will provide much needed funding to continue supporting our community through the Chamber’s Charleston Young Professionals (CYP) initiative.  CYP is on the forefront of empowering and engaging the emerging talent in the Charleston region.  This grant will assist in the charge to develop and recruit a world class workforce in the Charleston region.”
