Revoking of Amazon sales tax deal said to 'chill' S.C. economic development deal

Perhaps as expected, reports are coming in that the Midland's job recruiting efforts (if not the South Carolina's) have been upset following the revoking of an offer to Amazon.

Whether or not you believe the offer to Amazon over a guarantee of not being charged sales tax for having a warehouse in the state was fair (or the general concept of economic incentives) it seems that businesses are viewing it as a shift in South Carolina's willingness to offer incentives, and at least two business looking to open large facilities in the Midlands have decided to not pursue the Palmetto state.

One company was in the biodiesel business and the other a fuel cell maker.

I'm sure there will be more on this thread as the debate evolves, so for now I'll just shoot you over to The State's robust report on the latest news.
