Shopping locally in MYR: Groovy Green Glass

Groovy Green Glass on Facebook

While the world waited in line at WalMart in the wee hours of this Black Friday morning to snag the latest, greatest, and cheapest, TheDigitel Myrtle Beach is working online to feature what's made and sold in the area in support of our local businesses.  Welcome to the first installment of "Shopping locally in MYR" running through this holiday season.

Founded in 2010, Groovy Green Glass, in an effort to keep glass out of landfills, takes used wine, liquor, and beer bottles from local restaurants and re-purposes them into beautiful glassware, jewelry, dishes, vases, and other home goods and decorations.  Some products bear the label of their former brands, such as the tumblers made from Absolut Pears bottles.  Other products, like the golden yellow wine bottle earrings, show a little more discretion regarding their origin.  The point being that there are gift options for everyone.

Groovy Green glass is located in Myrtle Beach and their products are sold online in their Etsy store, and locally at Yoga In Common at Market Common, The Mole Hole at Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing, and Myrtle's Market.  See the map below for location and contact information.

You can keep up with the latest over at G3 on Facebook.  And if you shop in their Etsy store online between now and Sunday, November 27th, you can use the promotional code THANKFUL and receive 20% off your entire order.  Locally made, helping the environmental, cool products, and a discount - what more could you want?  Surely it has nothing to do with pushing and shoving, two-miles long lines, and great deals on toasters and candy cane-striped socks.

Happy local shopping!
