'Catch The Leprechaun 5K' kicks off St. Patrick's Day Celebrations

Catch the Leprechaun Start

The Catch the Leprechaun 5K is heading back Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.

Runners and walkers will come together on Wednesday, March 15th at 6:30pm, for the 3.1 mile run with a family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day party.

"We are looking forward to hosting the event which couples St Patrick’s Day celebrations with health and wellness,” said Race Director Mike McKenna. “It’s great to see the community come together to have fun while raising money for our fantastic charities.”

The highlight of the race is the speedy Leprechaun who entertains participants throughout the event. If they are fast enough to finish ahead of him, they receive a prize at the finish line.  The race entry, shirt and St Patrick’s Day party are all included in the $30 fee. No matter how lucky you are feeling, you are going to be hard pressed to find a better deal on St Patrick’s Day weekend.

Organizers are expecting a great crowd at this fundraiser that benefits Racers for Pacers and HEART. Generous donations from Cash & Carry, NBM Construction, Charleston Custom Homes, Coastal Therapy, Awendaw Green, Fleet Feet Sports and the Cooper River Bridge Run have been instrumental to the race and to help support the charities.
