Charleston Area Website Launches to Connect Businesses, Consumers

Businesses have a new option for sharing their events, specials and announcements. Consumers have a one-stop source for accessing local information, deals and upcoming events. It’s all at InTown.com, a new Charleston-based website that promotes local businesses to the local community.

“We know people are busy and yet they want information on what’s happening in their local community, how to get involved and ways to save money,” InTown.com owner Laura Dolloff said. “We also know businesses need a better way to connect with existing and potential customers. InTown.com helps to bring the two together.”

InTown.com has developed a self-posting platform but doesn’t take a cut of any sales or transactions making it different from a “daily deal” site. Businesses can advertise on the site for $299 per year. InTown.com also has an option for nonprofits – including school districts and governments – to advertise their events and opportunities at no charge.

Categories include food/beverage, spa/salon, kids, shopping, wellness, pets, be active, entertainment, auto, community, travel and schools. Consumers can browse the site’s categories at no charge and sign up to receive a daily highlights email. Based on their zip code, the site pulls the most relevant information and deals.

Consumers who want to access a business’ unique incentive pay $1 for that coupon. That dollar is then donated to a participating nonprofit of their choice through InTown.com’s “Pay it Forward” program. New site visitors can access their first three coupons for free as a way to try out the site.
