iCloud to local woman's rescue

We, here at TheDigitel, are tech lovers and some may call us Apple Fanboys so this story is right up our alley.

A local Horry County woman was recently the victim of a home break-in and was ready to give up on ever getting her items back, one of them being an iPad 2, until one day she noticed a couple photos that appeared on her iPhone thanks to Apple's iCloud and the Photo Stream feature.

WMBF News has the full story with video.

What's iCloud/Photo Stream?

iCloud is a great service that backs up all of your devices information in the cloud, so it is great for storing all your contacts and important documents -even all those high scores on Angry Birds. Part of the iCloud service is Photo Stream which shares your photos across all of your devices -snap a photo on your iPad, like the victim above, and it shows up "automagically" on your other 'iDevices'.

If you are really wanting to keep your iPhone/iPad safe make sure to turn on "Find my iPhone." This service is like a GPS locator for you iPhone or iPad and will give you pin-point accuracy of where you device may be (3G service or WiFi is needed). This service is free and also works with your Mac.
