The state House is involved in a debate this afternoon on whether or not to grant law enforcement officers the right to search people on probation and parole without a warrant.

According to The Post and Courier, the bill is pushed by Charleston Mayor Joe Riley and a statewide coalition of law enforcement officers and elected officials who believe the Legislature should grant officers this and other crimefighting tools.
