Off-duty deputy helps nab drunk driving suspect

An off-duty Charleston County sheriff's deputy took action on Tuesday night after drunk driver tried to back into him twice with his truck.

After spotting the intoxicated driver knocking over mailboxes, Deputy Dennis Carter decided to follow the suspect and report the incident to dispatchers. In the process, the driver of the truck attempted to back into Carter on two separate occasions.

When officers finally caught up with the aggressive driver, Frank Mitchell Lewis of Kingstree, was pulled from the vehicle at gunpoint while shouting at officers that he'd punch them if they tried to get him on the ground. Lewis was later charged with DUI and resisting arrest after he refused to take a breath alcohol test.
