I-26 shooting closes down interstate for hours

Maurice Youngblood, 40, was shot early this morning after entering Interstate 26 eastbound at Ashley Phosphate.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, Youngblood was able to navigate the vehicle to Midland Park before colliding with the median.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine if Youngblood died from the impact of the accident or from the gunshot wound.

I-26 was closed for several hours as police investigated the situation but is now open.
