Horry County's next legal eagles may just be at Forestbrook Middle School. Their Mock Trial team is set to take on ten other South Carolina schools in the S.C. Bar Middle School Mock Trial State Competition.

The competition will start this Friday, December and go until Saturday, December 10 at Marc H. Westbrook Lexington County Judicial Center in Lexington. Students from different schools will make up the prosecution and the defense in a fictitious criminal case, State of South Carolina v. Drew DeLaney

Via WMBF News:

DeLaney, a high school track coach, was charged with involuntary manslaughter following the death of one of the team's top runners, who collapsed after a strenuous practice on one of the hottest days of the year.

The students will be presenting their cases in front of local judges and lawyers who have volunteered their time.
