CCU hosts Discovery Day and Hip-Hop violin concert

Coastal Carolina University will host a special Discovery Day program for prospective students and their families on Saturday, March 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This Saturday program will consist of a special presentation on each of the university's five academic areas, a campus tour and an admissions presentation. Check-in and registration will begin at 9 a.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Black Violin duo to perform concert at CCU

Black Violin, a duo of classically trained violinists that fuses hip-hop with classical music, will perform at Coastal Carolina University at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30 in Wheelwright Auditorium.

Wil B and Kev Marcus, along with their DJ, have toured around the world, playing their original stringed sound combination of jazz, hip-hop, funk and classical that incorporates influences from Bach to Jay-Z. Black Violin has worked with artists as diverse as Alicia Keys, P. Diddy, Kanye West, Fifty Cent, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin, the Eagles and others. In 2005, the group was given the Apollo Legend award by the Apollo Theater in Harlem.
