American-made Harley-Davidson motorcycles. American-made soldiers of war. No one builds them like we do, and no one trains them better than we do.
When our warriors return from war, how do they cope with the experience they bring back home with them? After enduring more than ten years of prosecuting the Global War on Terror, primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan, this question will arise again and again. One only has to read the stories from the headlines to become aware that active-duty and veteran soldiers are committing suicide at an alarming rate, and the number of veteran homeless has risen dramatically. Sometimes, because of economic conditions that exist when they return, veterans sometimes do things they wouldn't normally do under different circumstances.
I live and write in Myrtle Beach and I wrote this story, "Coincidents--The Last Calling " that looks at seven veterans and how their special bond of brotherhood spans more than thirty years.
The annual motorcycle rally in Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand is the backdrop for this story about seven men that attend the rally through a “calling” for another purpose. Taking advantage of Myrtle Beach Bike Week, they plan to do something that has never been done before. This is to be the last of the callings they have heeded for over thirty years, the one that will finally bring the callings to an end.
Follow these seven operators and their experiences from their active-service days as “original operators”, to international marijuana smuggling, to their covert work for sheriffs throughout the southeast, to the heist that will make them rich and infamous…but no one will ever know who they are.
It’s all about the money...
"Coincidents--The Last Calling " is currently available in both e-book and paperback versions through Amazon.
