Warriors overcome Jaguars and obstacles; Hosts Columbus on Monday

Myrtle Beach is a tough crowd when it comes to anything new or different.

On one hand it can be justified by the crazy (and at times, shady) things we've seen come and go through the Beach over the years. But it almost seems like schadenfreude is a hobby for a lot of locals. Which is why it was a pleasant surprise to see nearly 400 people show up on a cold Friday night with both a Myrtle Beach High School football game and a CCU basketball game competing for local sports fans' attention.

What's even better– the Warriors put on a great show.

Especially considering the organization only really began to gel together just a couple weeks ago. The game started off with the Warriors taking a nice lead and they never looked back. Lofty 3-point bombs and the occasional fast break dunk kept the crowd entertained. The final buzzer sounded showing a 118-106 win over the Durham based Jaguars.

If the Warriors can get together a lively announcer and a more energetic pre-game and halftime show, they are well poised to become great Winter entertainment option for locals. In the meantime, the game itself and supporting a passionate fledgling team is well worth the price of admission.

For more details on the game, check out the Grand Strand Sports Report has a write-up. The Sun News post-game recap includes fan and organization reactions to the game. Read that here. You can find detailed stats for the game here.

The Warriors will take on the Columbus Riverballers at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center on Monday, November 21st at 7:30 p.m. Purchase tickets online (note: for Convention Center games you have to pay $3 for parking).
