This weekend is exploding with incredible opportunities to take in culture, art, and food.

First order of business: the Charleston Film Festival. This weekend-long event put on at the Terrace Theater has scored some of the best independent films from around the globe. Highlighted at this year's festival are the best of the Toronto Film Festival.

In other film news, the free film series on African-American culture and history in the Lowcountry continues at the Charles Pinckney National Historic Site this Sunday.

The cirque is in town. Alegría, one of Cirque du Soleil's most popular touring shows, continues its run at the North Charleston Coliseum through Sunday. I've seen it before and believe me, the show is out of this world.

As a prelude to Charleston Fashion Week, local retailers will be slashing prices on their hottest inventory to help you put together the perfect ensemble during the Go! Fashion event. All sales last through Sunday.

The third installment of the Lowcountry Artist Market, an etsy.com-inspired market that features everything handmade, vintage, and local, lands at the Music Farm on Saturday afternoon.

Food Truck Rodeo. The Remedy Market is hosting five food trucks on Saturday night -- come hungry, leave happy.

Heads up fanboys and gamers, the Captain's Comics Expo is back from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday. Get ready for comics, a costume contest, a superhero jump castle, gaming tables, and much, much more.

To add an insane amount of cuteness to your weekend plans, consider hitting up the the inaugural Beautiful Bulldog Contest that will be held prior to The Citadel's annual spring football game at Johnson Hagood Stadium on Saturday.
