There's still one whole week 'til the trick or treaters come out to play, but Charleston is already amping up with Halloween spirit.
If you've stalled until this point to dream up a clever or downright creepy costume, shame on you!
To start things off with a bang let's talk about Skinful Halloween on Saturday night. Yes, it is a $50 ticket, but I can promise you from prior experience that this blowout is always quite an experience. The all night rager has hoofed it from the North Charleston warehouse into the woods this year. Double trouble -- I can't wait. If you're feeling something less debaucherous, sort of, you should hit Friday night hard at the 2nd Annual Bacardi Halloween Howler Bar Crawl.
Raise your hand if the Rocky Horror Picture Show is a guilty pleasure of yours. If so, then you might want to check out the Charleston Ballet Theatre's opening performance this evening. There is an after party at Fish, situated just down the street.
To wrap up the pre-Halloween Halloween events, if you feel like dressing up like a zombie and shuffling around King and Meeting Streets, you shuffle your little heart out. I'm a huge zombie movie fan, and zombie walk plus an after party with an actor who played an actual predator in 2010's Predators will be there.

As for other things to enjoy this weekend, there's Follypalooza with a full day's line-up of live music, fun stuff for the kiddies to keep busy with, and Center Street will be closed down, so drinking in the streets. Charleston Octoberfest is back at Blackbaud Stadium on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. How often can you find oompah music, beers and bratwursts galore around here?
If you consider yourself a baseball fan, or a fan of insightful documentaries, had you heard about the screening of Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story? Tickets are $20 for the film, and $50 if you're interested in a dessert and champagne reception before the show. Watch the trailer for the film, it looks inspiring.
Election day is almost upon us and the debate season is in full bloom. A televised debate between the US Congressional District 2 candidates will take place on Sunday. For a full list of televised debates, click here.
Brazilian-born photographer Pedro Lobo's exhibition opened at the City Gallery on Thursday, but on Saturday afternoon, all are invited to an artist lecture at 2 p.m. The Charleston Jazz Orchestra will be performing jazz band arrangements of pop classics during 'Pops!' on Saturday night.
Finally, but certainly not last, Saturday will be the last day to bid your farewells to 52.5 Records. While pickings are slim in the shop, everything will be marked 52.5% off. Also, to send things off right, there will be live music courtesy of Shrimp Records all stars.
