Summer fun in the Holy City -- weekend round-up style

Image by Flickr user smiggins243 Fun. You'll be having lots of it this weekend.

Friday and Sunday may be a little slow, but Saturday makes up for it with tons of fun events, parties, and activities for you to take part in.

Check out this weekend's highlights:

Friday

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, The Harbour Club is teaming up with Charleston After Dark to present Travesty, a night including a film premiere, a runway show featuring never-before-seen designs, live performances and more. Get your tickets to Travesty over here.

Saturday

Disc golf, anyone? Mixson, a James Island property, is hosting its first ever Disc Golf Skills Tournament beginning at 11 a.m. Enjoy a partnered trick competition, a long distance throw challenge, the hole-in-one main event, and more, all while munching down on food from the on-site food trucks. Oh, yeah--and there will be prizes.

Unless you've been out of town for the past several weeks, you've heard about the fires that took place at 245 and 247 Rutledge Avenue on July 1st. Want to help out the victims? Head over to the Bogard Block Party on Saturday from noon until 6:30 p.m. You'll be able to kick back and enjoy a Budweiser beer truck (mmm...beeeeer), the Bogard Beatz DJ Competition, the Bogard Beauties Swimsuit Competition (hot girls!), food from some local food trucks, and more. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door--and you can feel good about spending the money, as it will go to a good cause.

Aquapalooza 2011 is coming this weekend...to Daniel Island. Some are thrown off by the change in location, but the event promises to be just as much fun as it has been in previous years. Aquapalooza is free to attend and will kick off at 1 p.m. Bring your boat out (or hitch a ride with a friend that has a boat, which is exactly what I'm planning on doing) and get ready for a day filled with hot chicks in bikinis, delicious food, loud music, and tons of awesomeness all around.

All weekend long

Sharks. They're big, they have sharp teeth, they're dangerous...and most of us are totally in awe of them. Well, this is the perfect weekend to show your appreciation for scary, dangerous, and beautiful sharks during Shark Week at the Aquarium. On Friday, head out to the Aquarium and have a blast at Shark, Rattle & Roll featuring live music, yummy food, and tantalizing drinks. And the shark fun goes on all week.
