Writer and digital storyteller Kevin Moffett speaks at CCU

Kevin Moffett, writer and co-collaborator on the digital storytelling project "The Silent History" will speak on Monday, March 4, at 4:00pm at Coastal Carolina University’s Thomas W. & Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities & Fine Arts, room 152.

The talk is part of the Master of Arts in Writing’s speaker series. The event is free and open to the public.

“The Silent History” is essentially a fictional e-book with reader interaction. Sold as an app, this serialized novel is written and designed specifically for the iPhone and iPad. It uses the devices GPS and touch-screen to communicate and collaborate with the reader in this sprawling story/scavenger hunt about a generation of children born without language. “The Silent History” made news last October for being selected as one of six projects for “The New Frontier Story Lab,” a creative program with the Sundance Institute.

Moffett has also published two collections of short stories. The first, “Permanent Visitors,” won the John Simmons Short Fiction Award and was long-listed for the Frank O’ Connor International Short Story Award and the Believer Book Award. His latest collection, “Further Interpretations of Real-Life Events” was released in March 2012 from Harper Perennial.
