CFW Emerging Design winner celebrating and offering 25% off

After winning the 2009 Emerging Designer Competition, Marysia Reeves is celebrating her collection today, March 31, from 2 to 8 p.m. and offering 25% off all her designs (including swimsuits).

Her store is at 193 King Street.

Charleston magazine has awarded Marysia Reeves as the Charleston Fashion Week 2009 Emerging Designer Competition: Southeast winner. Celebrity judges sat front row during the shows on Saturday, March 28th in Marion Square as three designers presented their spring collections before an audience of over five hundred. Judges included accessories designer Mary Norton, Emmy Award-wining costume designer Dana Campbell, Lacoste CEO Bob Siegel, and Project Runway’s Mychael Knight.

Reeves’ marysia CHARLESTON ballerina-meets-punk collection of swimwear, beach cover-ups and dresses earned endorsements from the judges and a standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd. Her prize, a $1,000 check courtesy of the Art Institute of Charleston, a booth at AmericasMart® Atlanta Apparel Market in August and a runway show at Charleston Fashion Week 2010, was awarded by internationally-renowned designer Cynthia Rowley along with presenting sponsor, the Art Institute of Charleston.

Born in Poland, Reeves attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and in 2007 moved to Charleston, South Carolina with her husband to start a swimwear label. The couple, along with their 2-year old daughter and 3 dogs, resides on Folly Beach. www.marysiaswim.com
